Basic Concepts of Fuzzy Logic

Fuzzy logic is not logic that is not clear (fuzzy), but logic that is used to describe fuzziness.

Fuzzy logic is the theory of fuzzy sets

  • The set that calibrates fuzziness.
  • Fuzzy logic is based on the idea that everything has a degree value.

Fuzzy logic is an improvement on Boolean logic that introduces the concept of partial truth.

  • Classical logic (Crisp Logic) states that everything can be expressed in binary terms (0 or 1, black or white, yes or no) à There is no value in between
  • Fuzzy logic replaces Boolean truth with a level of truth. There is a value between black and white (gray).
